JAZZ AND GENDER
Sara Aldén is currently a master student in both gendering practices and improvisation and circles here research around her two main
subjects and passions, jazz and gender.
During her bachelor studies at the Music Academy in Gothenburg she explored this space and wrote the thesis "Too late for Very Early?" based on an analysis of the experienced impact and ability to improvise in rooms where jazz is being performed identifying as non-male.
During her bachelor studies in Gendering Practises she she wrote the thesis "We're here, after all!" based on an interview study to explore the female jazz singer's experience of position in rooms where jazz is being performed through discourse analysis.
